Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman, born on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, Israel, is an Israeli-American actress and filmmaker best known for her role as Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Raised in the United States after her family moved from Israel, Portman grew up in Long Island, New York. An academically gifted student, she balanced her early acting career with her education, eventually earning a degree in Psychology from Harvard University.

Portman began her film career at a young age with her breakout performance in Léon: The Professional (1994). Her international fame skyrocketed in 1999 when she was cast as Queen Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. She reprised the role in Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005), portraying a strong political leader whose tragic love story with Anakin Skywalker became central to the saga.

Outside of Star Wars, Portman demonstrated remarkable range in both independent films and major studio productions. She received critical acclaim for performances in Closer, V for Vendetta, and most notably Black Swan (2010), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.
