Billy Dee Williams (born April 6, 1937) is an American actor best known for portraying Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars saga. His smooth charisma, charm, and confident screen presence made Lando one of the most beloved characters in the original trilogy.
Born in New York City, Williams studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Design before beginning his career in theatre, film, and television. He gained early recognition for his dramatic performance in the television film Brian’s Song (1971), earning widespread praise and establishing himself as a respected actor.
Williams first appeared as Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and reprised the role in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
